This course of instruction consists of classroom and field instruction. This course is designed to introduce the police officer, security guard or military personnel to the ever increasing tactic of suicide bombing attacks in the war against terror. The students will become aware of the threat, what the problem is, who are the bombers, what is their motivations, how are they recruited, what are the operational requirements of suicide bombing attacks, what are their methods of operations, how do they train and what can be done to deter or at last mitigate such attacks. Prior to the first bombing of the world trade center in 1993 we had not experienced such terror attacks within CONUS. Although suicide bombing attacks have not occurred here yet, all intelligence agencies advise that it is only a matter of time. We have time to learn about this tactic and possibly develop a series of security strategies that will cause the terrorist not to employ this devastating tactic in our country. There are many inaccuracies, rumors, etc going around about suicide bombing and this course will attempt to present the problem in a straight forth fashion. Perhaps this course can provide the foundation from which to modify our security capabilities to forestall attacks.
Candidate Requirements:
Candidates can be any sworn police officer, bomb technician, security guard or current member of the military.
