This course of instruction consists of both classroom instruction and classroom exercises. This course is designed to train and certify law enforcement officers and other special operations personnel in the skills of hostage negotiation. This course teaches the theory and the skills necessary to establish a crisis management team, as well as the negotiation skills and techniques needed to resolve certain high-risk situations confronting governments around the world. This course has been developed to prepare the officers for the tasks associated with performing the duties of a hostage negotiator during life and death high-risk situations. All training is performance-based-training to insure that the participants are absorbing the instructional material by evaluating their ability to successfully put the theory into practice.
Candidate Requirements:
A candidate for this course must be a sworn police officer in good standing in his department, a military soldier or some other official government agent recommended for the course by his government. The student should have a calculating mind and not be easily upset. He should NOT be a high ranking officer but someone between the rank of Sergeant and Captain. He should be a team player and not an individualist.
